Overview
Anchor ("the App") is designed with your privacy as a priority. We believe your personal habits and routines are your business, not ours. This policy explains how we handle your information.
The short version: Your routines and habit data stay on your device. The only information that leaves your device is the minimum needed to manage in-app subscriptions, which is processed by Apple and our subscription provider, RevenueCat.
Information We Don't Collect
Anchor does not collect, store, or transmit:
- Your name, email address, or phone number
- Your routines, tasks, or habit data
- App usage or completion history
- Location data
- Advertising identifiers or third-party analytics data
The only information that leaves your device is what's necessary to manage subscriptions. See "Subscriptions and RevenueCat" below for details.
Data Stored on Your Device
Anchor stores the following data locally on your device using Apple's secure on-device storage:
- Routines and Tasks: The routines you create, including task names, descriptions, and verification settings
- Completion History: Records of when you completed routines and tasks
- App Preferences: Your chosen theme, settings, and blocked app selections
- NFC Tag and QR Code Identifiers: References to your anchor tags for task verification
This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third parties.
Device Permissions
Anchor requests certain device permissions to function. Here's what each permission is used for:
- Screen Time / Family Controls: Required to block and unblock apps as part of your routines. This data is managed entirely by iOS and is not accessible to us.
- NFC: Used to read NFC tags for task verification. Tag data is only used locally to match your anchors.
- Camera: Used to scan QR codes for task verification. Images are processed locally and not stored or transmitted.
- Location (optional): If you enable location-based triggers, your location is used locally to detect when you arrive at or leave a specified area. Location data is not transmitted or stored beyond what iOS requires for geofencing.
- Notifications: Used to remind you about scheduled routines. Notification content is generated locally on your device.
Subscriptions and RevenueCat
Anchor offers in-app subscriptions to unlock certain features. Subscription purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment details — Apple's privacy policy governs how they handle payment information.
To manage subscriptions and verify entitlements (i.e., to know whether you have an active subscription), we use RevenueCat, a third-party subscription infrastructure provider. When you make or restore a purchase, the following information is shared with RevenueCat:
- Purchase history — the App Store transactions associated with your Anchor subscription, used to validate receipts, prevent fraud, and deliver your entitlements.
- An anonymous user identifier — generated by RevenueCat so your subscription can be restored across your devices. It is not tied to your name or email.
- Basic device and app information — such as country, app version, and device type, used by RevenueCat for receipt validation and to power subscription analytics in our dashboard.
RevenueCat processes this information on our behalf. Aggregate subscription analytics (e.g., conversion and renewal rates) help us improve the App. RevenueCat's handling of this data is governed by their privacy policy.
Anchor does not integrate with any advertising networks, third-party analytics SDKs, or trackers beyond what is described above.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under privacy laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to access or delete information held about you. Because we don't operate user accounts and don't collect personal information directly, most data subject requests relate to the subscription records held by RevenueCat. To make a request, contact us at the email below and we will work with RevenueCat to honor it.
Data Backup
If you use iCloud Backup, your Anchor data may be included in your device backup. This backup is encrypted and managed by Apple according to their privacy practices. We do not have access to your iCloud backups.
Children's Privacy
Anchor does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Since we don't collect personal information from any users, there is no children's data to protect. The App may be used by users of all ages under parental guidance.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
