Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Anchor ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

Description of Service

Anchor is a habit-building app that helps users complete routines by temporarily blocking access to selected apps until tasks are verified as complete. The App uses Apple's Screen Time API to manage app blocking on your device.

License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute the App
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to circumvent any security features of the App

User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Your use of the App and any routines you create
  • Ensuring the App is appropriate for your needs
  • Any NFC tags or QR codes you create or use with the App
  • Maintaining access to your device and any physical anchors you set up

You acknowledge that app blocking features may prevent access to apps on your device, including in situations where you may need immediate access. You are solely responsible for managing your routines and ensuring you can complete tasks or access emergency features when needed.

Voluntary Donations

The App may offer the option to make voluntary donations to support development. These donations are:

  • Entirely optional and do not affect App functionality
  • Processed by Apple through the App Store
  • Non-refundable except as required by applicable law or Apple's refund policies

Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, features, code, and content, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. The Anchor name, logo, and related marks are our trademarks. You may not use our intellectual property without prior written permission.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

We do not guarantee that:

  • The App will help you build habits or change behavior
  • App blocking will work in all circumstances
  • The App will be compatible with future iOS versions
  • NFC or QR code verification will work with all devices or tags

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Loss of data or routines
  • Inability to access apps on your device
  • Any damages resulting from your use or inability to use the App
  • Any issues with NFC tags, QR codes, or other verification methods

Our total liability for any claims arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App or any in-app purchases in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

Changes to the App

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App at any time without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the App.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
